Interplanetary Shock (or CME Arrival)
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Location: Earth
Event Time: 2024-06-28T09:09Z ( ACE: SWEPAM )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
ACE: SWEPAM
ACE: MAG
DSCOVR: PLASMAG
Activity ID: 2024-06-28T09:09:00-IPS-001 (version 1)
Quality of ICME Signature: 2 (clear signatures)
Note: Characterized well across solar wind parameters. Observed as a jump from an elevated Bt already at 12.4nT to 17nT and further rising to 24nT. A secondary enhancement at 2024-06-28T10:31Z from 23nT->30nT is observed ONLY in DSCOVR data due to a short ACE data gap from 2024-06-28T10:00Z->T10:31Z. Bz is largely sustained southward, reaching a peak of -24nT. Solar wind speeds rise from ~330km/s to ~440km/s. Temperature and density sharply rise as well. This IPS is caused by the arrival of filament CME 2024-06-25T05:00Z, arriving 5 hours early compared to M2M modeled time of 2024-06-28T14:04Z (-7.0h, +7.0h).
